Fiber crafts have been passed through the generations for thousands of years. Celebrate the rich community, tradition, and skill of the wool community in a special online event coming in March and April.

We’ll explore the wonder that is wool, meet shepherds that raise it, learn techniques to craft with it, and of course, the amazing sheep that grow it.

Each week from March 5 through April 30, there will be a Weekly Adventure and several mini-treks.

Weekly Adventures are free and doable with nothing more than an internet connection and a little curiosity.

Of course, we know you love to learn as much as we do and that’s where a mini-trek allows you to explore further, try out some new things, and maybe even experience something new.

First, though, make sure you hop over to Instagram and follow your hosts so you don’t miss anything!

Then, look for the ‘Weekly Adventures‘ page to
– download your Adventure Map
– see this week’s weekly Adventure and mini-treks
– sign up for an email reminder for each weekly trek!

Meet your hosts

Hi! I’m Irene. I enjoy researching and writing about knitting traditions around the world. You can read more about my work at 106metersfromtheroad.com. My book, Keepers of the Sheep: Knitting in Morocco’s High Atlas and Beyond, which was written in collaboration with shepherds from Morocco’s High Atlas, is available here.

I am a knitting instructor and designer with an eye for color, contrast, and texture: I love to explore unusual stitch patterns and constructions and to help knitters expand the way they think about their craft.
